A
River's Day celebration took place at Thompson Park in the
Chilliwack River Valley on September 24, 2005. Approximately
100 individuals came out on the beautiful day to participate
in a River Cleanup organized by the Chilliwack River Action
Committee in partnership with the Fraser Valley Regional District
and the City of Chilliwack.
Tom Cadieux and Krista Englund were on hand
with a display about the Chilliwack River Watershed Strategy
to answer questions and stimulate interest in the project.
Passerbys enjoyed finding their house on the air photo of
the Chilliwack River Watershed and the City of Chilliwack.
In total, 25 houses were "pinned." Krista and Tom
also showed off some of the background materials, such as
the draft Watershed Atlas and Background Document, and distributed
brochures about the project.
The response to the project was quite positive,
with a number of individuals signing up to receive more information
about the project and get involved in upcoming events.
