Noxious Weeds Map

Purpose

To show the known location of noxious weeds in the Chilliwack River Watershed as part of the FVRD Noxious Weed Program.

Data source(s)

Fraser Valley Regional District, Noxious Weeds Program, 2005

Explanation

Invasive species are considered the second greatest threat to biodiversity next to habitat loss. The FVRD Noxious Weed Program currently only focuses on Wild Chervil and Tansy Ragwort, two species of particular concern to agriculture. Other invasive species within the watershed include butterfly-bush, English ivy, giant hogweed, Himalayan blackberry, reed canarygrass, scotch broom, yellow flag iris, and Eurasian water-milfoil.
