Historic Drainage Patterns

Purpose

To show the historic location of the Chilliwack River.

Data source(s)

Pearson Ecological, 2004.

Explanation

Prior to the 1900’s, the Chilliwack River ran through Sardis and the City of Chilliwack to the Fraser River. This map shows the approximate historic location of the river’s channels across the delta.  First Nation settlements historically located along these channels were cut off from the river when the flow across the delta was blocked in 1875.
