Purpose
To show the location
of known deer and goat winter range habitats within the
Chilliwack River Watershed.
Data source(s)
BC Ministry of
Sustainable Resource Management, Business Solutions
Branch.
Explanation
The Chilliwack River Watershed supports a
rich variety of wildlife, including grizzly bear,
bobcat, marbled murrelet, spotted owl, Coastal giant
salamander, snowshoe hare, cougar, etc. The watershed
also contains important winter habitat for black-tailed
deer and mountain goat populations. These Ungulate
Winter Ranges (UWR) are being considered for legal
establishment, and will require specific forest
management planning to protect (see Forestry Constraints
Map).
