Purpose

To show the location of human settlement, correctional facilities, and existing FVRD zoning within the Chilliwack River Watershed.

Explanation

The legal status of Official Settlement Plans is established by the Local Government Act. The Regional Board is given authority to prepare Official Settlement Plans for those areas of the Regional District outside a city, district, town or village. Following adoption, an Official Settlement Plan forms the basis for all other land-use regulating bylaws (and amendments to them) for the area within its boundaries.

The Official Settlement Plan for Electoral Area "E" is a document embodying a statement of the intended future development of the settlement plan area which will serve as a guide for day-to-day decision making on the part of the Regional Board, private citizens and public agencies, and provide the framework for the preparation and adoption of new zoning and regulatory bylaws.
