Fish Presence Map


Purpose

To show the known locations where salmonids and other species of fish have been recorded.

Data source(s)

Fisheries Information Summary System (FISS), November 2004.

Explanation

FISS is a geo-referenced database of overview fish and fish habitat, macro-reach and lake classification data. It is a joint Fisheries and Oceans Canada - BC Fisheries initiative. Salmon include chinook, coho, sockeye, chum and pink. Sport fish include all species considered sport or gamefish in B.C. For more information, visit http://www.env.gov.bc.ca/fish/fiss/index.html.

Disclaimer

The maps included in the Chilliwack River Watershed Atlas are not intended to be legal documents and it is important that users understand their limitations.  The data has come from many different sources collected at different times and therefore there are variations in the information provided.  In addition, the spatial accuracy of both resource and cadastral information will vary.  The maps are intended as a general guide that will need to be refined and updated.   Users are encouraged to contact the originator of the data in order to obtain up to date or more detailed mapping if required.
